The Science Behind Structural Panels
Plywood is manufactured by bonding multiple thin wood veneers (called plies) together with adhesive. Each veneer is placed with its grain direction perpendicular to the adjacent layer — this cross-bonded construction is what gives plywood its dimensional stability and resistance to warping.
The number of plies is always odd (3-ply, 5-ply, 7-ply, 9-ply) to maintain balance. The outer layers are called face and back veneers — these determine the surface finish. The inner layers are core veneers, which determine structural strength.
The type of adhesive resin defines the plywood grade. MR grade uses Urea Formaldehyde (UF) for interior use; BWP grade uses Phenol Formaldehyde (PF) for waterproof and exterior applications.

BWP (Boiling Water Proof) / BWR Grade plywood uses Phenol Formaldehyde (PF) resin bonding — the gold standard of structural plywood. The PF resin creates a permanent, waterproof adhesive that withstands prolonged water immersion, steam, and extreme humidity without delamination. Our BWP grade exceeds IS:710 specifications.
